Mandibular Advancement Splint

A mandibular advancement splint is a medical device used in dentistry and sleep medicine to reposition the lower jaw (mandible) forward (protrusion). These splints are commonly used to treat sleep apnea and snoring by keeping the airways open during sleep, preventing the back of the tongue and soft palate from obstructing the airway.

The splint is custom-fitted and worn at night. It is typically made of durable plastic material and fits over both the upper and lower teeth.

In addition to treating sleep disorders, mandibular advancement splints can also be used for certain types of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders to relieve pain and stabilize the jaw position. The fitting and monitoring of the splint are carried out by a dentist or orthodontist.

Additionally, the RehaSplint can be used for snoring, as it helps relax the masticatory muscles and stabilizes the jaw, thereby opening the throat and improving airflow. This makes it a less invasive option, especially for mild cases or when accompanied by jaw-related issues.
